The 28th edition of the World Volleyball League runs from 2 June to 18 June 2016, for the intercontinental phase and from 15 June to 8 July for the final phase 1. The final round of Group 1 will be played in Curitiba (Brazil) 2.Serbia (defending champion), Poland (reigning world champion), Brazil (Olympic champion in title) and France (European champion) and the biggest volleyball nations compete in the tournament Le More prestigious of the year.Austria and Estonia compete for the first time in this competition.Intercontinental Tour
Division 1, the 12 teams are placed in 9 pools of 4 teams. In each pool, all teams will meet in a Round Tournament. The result of the 9 hens will form a single ranking. The host country team and the top five teams will meet for the final round. The last team after the intercontinental round may be relegated if the winner of Division 2 has reached the conditions set by the FIVB.
Division 2, the 12 teams are placed in 9 pools of 4 teams. In each pool, all teams will meet in a Round Tournament. The result of the 9 hens will form a single ranking. The host country team and the top three teams will meet for the final round. The last team after the intercontinental round may be relegated if the winner of Division 3 has reached the conditions set by the FIVB.
Division 3, the 12 teams are placed in 6 pools of 4 teams. In each pool, all teams will meet in a Round Tournament. The result of the 6 hens will form a single classification. The host country team and the top three teams will meet for the final round.Final round
Division 1, the 6 teams of the final round will be divided into 2 hens determined by the serpentine system. The host country team will be in the top position, and the other teams will be divided according to their ranking in the preliminary round. The top two teams from each group will meet for the semi-finals. And the winners will play in a final match for the gold medal.
Division 2 and Division 3, The host country team will meet the team with the lowest ranking for the semi-finals. The other two teams will meet in the other semifinal. The winners will play in a final gold medal game, as well as a promotional chance.
