Tips:

The 2017-2018 season of Eredivisie is the 62nd edition of the first Dutch division. It pitted the eighteen best Dutch clubs in a series of thirty-four days. Feyenoord Rotterdam defend the title against seventeen other teams, including three from Eerste Divisie. At the end of the championship, the teams ranked from 4 to 7 compete in a tournament (the 4th against the 7th and the 5th against the 6th in the semi-final, then final). The winner qualifies for the second preliminary round of the Europa League.

VVV-Venlo became champion of the First Division in the season 2016/17 and returned to the
Eredivisie after four years of playing in the First Division. VVV-Venlo hereby takes over the place of Go Ahead Eagles, which ended after one season in the Eredivisie last and subsequently degraded directly to the First Division. Roda JC Kerkrade maintained himself in the playoffs by leaving MVV Maastricht behind two matches. NAC Breda defeated in the same play-offs N.E.C. And therefore graduated after two years to the Eredivisie. N.E.C. Walked the opposite road.    At the start of the league, Phillip Cocu of PSV is the longest coach in the Eredivisie. He has been coach of his club since the season 2013/14. Cocu was shortly replaced by assistant Ernest Faber in March 2014 due to surgery at Cocu.

The first goal of this season was scored (in offside position) by the Belgian Cyriel Dessers. He scored on behalf of FC Utrecht.
